Aint Got A Reason © 5.1M This is a song I wrote a few years ago after I ripped a riff off of Joe Wagner. It took me several years to finally sit down and record it. My friend Bsugar added the harmonica part. The song plays pretty good with a full band but this is a simplified version played with an acoustic guitar and newly aquired Bass Guitar (thanks Andy!). Sara © 2.6M A song I wrote in 1991 when I had just moved to Ames, IA and I was seeing this girl but was still in the process of breaking up (in my heart) with my ex-girlfried. I think the song was as much to me as it was to the new girl.Copyright © 1991 Farzad Diba All Rights Reserved

Crewel Lyze was a joint project that included Michael (Mickey) Mazur and myself and took place during the summer of 1988. (We were 16 years old) The name of our group was a reflection of our love for Led Zepplin and to be more like them, we tweaked the way we spelled our name too. Most of these songs were recorded at my parents house in Greendale (the bubble) Wisconsin and were driven by boredom, teenage angst and a lot of free time. I long for those days so I decided to dig up this tape from deep within the recesses of my archive, dust them off and usher them into the modern age (mp3). It is my hope that at some point in the not so distant future I can find the time to re-record these songs. Till then this snapshot of that summer is what remains.
Instrumental 1.4mb Wrote this instrumental while learning to finger pick.
I'm in Water 2.8mb Inspired by a flange and delay pedal, this song took 20 minutes to write and record (if I remember correctly). We had a blast.
I'm Talking To You 2.9mb Boyfriend/Girlfriend fight leads to revelation about the distance between man and woman. So young, so naive, so real.
In the Summer 5.2mb The expression of isolation. I like the the chorus on this song although its message is a sad one.
The Circle's Complete 4.1mb A lighter song about the depressing cycle of love and life. (Do you sense a trend here? :) Our friend Boris added the solo in the middle. Thanks Butzo!
The Game 1.8mb Mickey and I had a great time writing and recording this song. Its one of our faster paced songs and seeks to understand the games that girls play with a guys heart.
7 Miles 2.0mb I wrote this song while I was spending the summer in British Columbia, Canada. Separated from my girlfriend I was very home sick. The song was written and performed on the piano.
The Distance Between Us 2.8mb This was the first song I ever wrote. I wrote this song in British Columbia, Canada while separated from my girlfriend I think the space between us was growing and the tension was building.
Sometimes 3.1mb Mickey is doing backup on this song. I like this song :) The crowd was electronically added (i think this is pretty obvious, but I thought worth mention). The effect at the end was a screw up with the 4-track recorder that ended up sounding pretty cool so we kept it.
Eileen 2.8mb My first girlfriend middle name was Eileen and if I remember correctly, this song was part of the breakup / healing process for me.
